The Right Support for Every IEP Challenge
Families come to us at two key moments — when they’re just starting out and feeling overwhelmed or when there’s a problem with their child’s IEP. Our top areas of support include:
Eligibility & Evaluations
Understanding whether your child qualifies for special education services can feel like a battle. We help families navigate the IEP evaluation process, including:
Psychoeducational assessments
Data gathering
Eligibility meetings
Non-Academic Challenges
IEPs aren’t just about academics. Emotional regulation, executive functioning, and adaptive skills are just as critical to your child’s success.
We equip you with the tools to ensure your child’s IEP includes the right goals and services to meet their full range of needs.
Behavior & Discipline
If behavior issues are leading to suspensions or discipline meetings, it’s critical that the school addresses your child’s needs—not just enforces punishment.
We help families prepare for and advocate during discipline proceedings and secure the best possible outcome.
Need Emergency Manifestation Determination Review (MDR) Help?
There aren’t many IEP emergencies, but MDR meetings definitely qualify! Check out these resources to help you prepare for your meeting so you can effectively advocate for your child.
“Dr. Tanner referred us to her helpful webinar on MDRs that we reviewed before a consultation meeting with her. We knew just what to ask her after the webinar so we could act with speed to prepare for the MDR meeting and secure provider statements as support.”
~ J.C., parent of high school student

“We had requested an IEP qualification meeting many months before and had not received any meaningful feedback.
We had the feeling that the school was dragging its feet and not taking our child's case seriously. Since we started working with Dr. Brandi, we learned how to interact with the school in a constructive manner, our child became eligible for services, and most importantly, our child has seen improvements in the areas needing improvement.”
— J.M., parent of elementary school child
Frequently Asked Questions About IEP Advocacy for Families
-
Short answer: all of them. No matter where you live, if you have questions about IEPs, I have answers.
Because IEPs, 504s, and special education follow federal laws, most of the information you need doesn’t change from state to state. Your IEP Collective is packed with resources that can help you ensure your child gets the support they need. When you join, you get access to our on-demand training library— plus, you can connect with me directly during my Office Hours calls.
That said, each state does have some specific regulations, and the devil is in the details. (I desperately want to make a joke here about “the devil went down to Georgia 🤣”) I know Georgia regs inside and out and can offer support here. However, if you need high-touch 1:1 advocacy support and meeting attendance in another state, I can refer you to an advocate near you.
-
Yes, meeting attendance is available as an add-on for Georgia families who choose the IEP Problem Resolution service package. Download my Services Guide above for full details.

The first step is joining Your IEP Collective—it’s where we begin working together.

I regularly share IEP advocacy insights, strategies, and updates via email — get on the list here. You can also explore our blog and free guides to get a sense of my approach.
Want a deeper look? Your IEP Collective includes over 20 training videos and workshops and the ability to participate in Office Hours, where you can ask questions about your situation and see many examples of how I approach cases through how I help other families. If you’re wondering which 1:1 services I provide, you can find full details in the Services Guide at the top of the page.

If you work with families struggling with eligibility or the IEP or 504 process—feeling frustrated, unheard, or confused—Your IEP Source is here to help.
I’ve created a Referral Guide with everything you need, including a summary of our services, sample email templates & talking points, website links, and information on expert witness and consulting services from Lightway Psychological Services. Feel free to share this with families who could benefit from advocacy support.

An IEP advocate can help you in several ways, including providing you with clear information on the IEP process, helping you communicate more effectively with schools, and making sure you understand all your available options.
